The ReMaker began to solve two fundamental problems in fashion:
Fast fashion:
- Low prices mean that clothes are usually discarded after just 7 uses.
- The US alone spends around 21 billion pounds of textile waste to landfills every year.
The Leather Industry:
- Leather tanning requires massive amounts of energy, meaning it has a huge carbon footprint
- It also uses dangerous chemicals that pollute our water sources and severely damage the health of workers
This is where The ReMaker comes in.
Led by award-winning designer, Yuttana Anothaisintawee, we have over 15 years of experience in upcycling second-hand materials, reducing textile waste, and creating first-class fashion.
How We Do It
At the Remaker, rather than making our leather from scratch, we use second-hand leather jackets.
We hand-select those that are softest, most flexible and most robust.
We then wash, process and finish them by hand to meet our standards.
Lastly, we craft them into our award-winning bags and shoes.
This way, we can ensure that our products are:
*Made to the highest standards
*Soft yet robust
*Chemical-free
*Environmentally-friendly
*Stylish
